THQ unveiled a few details on their upcoming (actually more than a couple years away) Warhammer 40000 MMORPG.

First of all it seems it'll be a proper MMORPG and not an MMOFPS as many argued (and hoped), but action elements like cover and positioning will be important none-the-less.

They also said that fights will be on a larger scale than the ones planned by EA Mythic in Warhammer online (I honestly doubt it, since Warhammer online has some really massive environments, it's probable that the guys at THQ just considered the instanced scenarios, and didn't take in account that WAR also has open world RVR in some quite big battlefields. If they really do bigger than that, I can only wonder how big, gigabyte-wise, the game could be).

Players will be able to strongly customize their character appearence, and expecially the number of items they wear as decoration (this element is copied straight from Warhammer Online), and to create their own squads (maybe their own space marine chapters?).

Also, and this is extremely interesting, all races will be represented and will play an important role in the game (even if it isn't specified if they'll be actually "playable" or just "represented", personally I doubt they'll make all races playable from the start. But if they do, I won't be the one to complain). The only thing I'm a bit worried about are alliances, given how THQ literally SLAUGHTERED the warhammer 40000 lore, breaking all alliances between the forces of Imperium in the latest Dawn of War expansions. As I already said in a previous post, if I'll be forced to raise my chainsword against the Sisters of Battle, i'll be really pissed.

And before the sex war breaks out in the fan forums, no, there are no female Space Marines :D
